Checks stolen from Obama campaign headquarters

Three checks for campaign services have been stolen from President Barack Obama’s national campaign headquarters in Chicago.

Midwest Press Secretary Ben Finkenbinder says the checks were to be sent to vendors but “made it into the wrong hands” and that the campaign notified police. He adds that he doesn’t expect the theft to have any impact on the campaign.

He would not say how much money the checks were for or provide other details on the theft.

Chicago police would not comment Thursday beyond confirming that a theft was reported at that address and that no one was in custody.

WFLD-TV reported that two squad cars were seen outside the building Wednesday, and that officers who responded to the call were seen leaving the building with brown manila envelopes.
