By

Nicasa Deputy Director Emperatriz Guerra has been awarded the Keith Keesy Memorial Award by the Illinois Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Association (IADDA) at their annual conference earlier this month. The award is given to pioneers in the alcohol/drug field. Guerra has been active in the field of substance abuse prevention and treatment for the past 20 years. She has spent time as a family therapist, counselor, Latino services coordinator, clinical supervisor, and director of prevention services. “Dr. Guerra’s dedication to her field and the individuals and families of Lake County is incredible,” said Bruce Johnson, Nicasa chief executive officer. “We were thrilled to see her hard work and commitment recognized statewide.” Nicasa is a Lake County behavioral health organization.
