Police academy for senior citizens

The Mundelein police department’s Senior Citizens’ Police Academy begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Del Webb Community Center, 3555 Grand Dominion Circle, Mundelein. The academy gives senior citizens who live or work in or near the village of Mundelein and are 55 years old or older an opportunity to become familiar with the day-to-day operations of the police department. Participants gain a better understanding of the procedures, guidelines, responsibilities, demands, personnel, equipment, policies and laws that guide the department’s decisions. Classes will run every Tuesday for 10 weeks, ending with a graduation scheduled for Nov. 27. Participants do not need to be a resident of Del Webb to attend. To apply for the academy, contact Jennifer Marshall at (847) 968-3770.
