Des Plaines man charged in Chicago shooting

By Paul Biasco

A 31-year-old Des Plaines man has been charged with shooting another man multiple times on Chicago’s west side, according to police.

Police on the 4300 block of West Madison Street saw the suspect shoot the 33-year-old victim multiple times at about 10:20 p.m. Friday, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Dan O’Brien said.

Officers arrested Jeffrey D. Grafton of Des Plaines a short distance from the shooting after he attempted to flee, police said.

Grafton was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and appeared in court Wednesday morning.

Police were able to recover the weapon, O’Brien said.

Police said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was in critical condition Monday night when he was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.

There was no available update on the victim’s condition Wednesday night.
