We need to consider all the expenses; the construction is only part of the cost. The real expense, the one that is ongoing would be the hiring, training, and staffing of the facility. I think in this case an economic study could be very valuable; also getting a guarantee from the federal government that they would continue to use the facility and pay us would be helpful as well.Do you believe the county court system needs a computer system upgrade that might cost as much as $12.6 million? If so, do you support using RTA sales tax money to fund it, or do you have a different plan? If not, what is your alternative plan?We don?t know what the cost will be yet. In order to understand the true cost we need a proposal that includes a ?statement of work? which will detail the cost of the software, implementation, training and ongoing maintenance. Let?s figure out what it?s going to cost, then we can decide how we will pay for it.Do you support the call by the state's attorney and public defender for raises for their staffs? Where should that money come from?I do, we have some of the lowest paid prosecutors and public defenders in the state. This makes the State?s Attorney?s office a revolving door which cost?s us more money in the long run. The money must come out of existing revenues, let?s look where we can increase efficiency and consolidate resources to pay for it.What aspects of the Fabyan/Settlers Hill campus redevelopment vision created by the task force do you support? What should happen to the old county jail property?I support the building of walking and biking trails. I think the old county jail property should be sold, and use the money to pay for the build out of the shell space in the Kane County jail.
