If yes, please explain: No.Candidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 Low taxes. Hold the line on taxes during these hard economic times. Find ways to promote business development and to expand the county's tax base.Key Issue 2 Improve quality of life issues in Kane County. For example, improving pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths along busy streets would have many benefits. These improvements can decrease traffic congestion and improve air quality. More people would have an alternative to driving. School children would be safer going to school. Another example is the impact of home foreclosures in the neighborhoods. More should be done to address foreclosed properties that are not maintained properly.Key Issue 3 Work to make Kane County more accessible. For example look at holding meetings later in the day to give residents an opportunity to attend meetings.Questions Answers Did the county board get it right when they decided to leave an ethics ordinance that is more stringent but more open to a legal challenge in place? Would you support the creation of more detailed economic interest statements?Yes. It is very detailed as it is. My only recommendation is to change the amount of gifts received from $500 to $250. Many gifts can be omitted because they are just below $500. Decreasing the reporting amount can result in additional reporting.Would you support the buildout of the shell space in the Kane County jail if it could be shown that the space could/would be used to increase profits from housing federal inmates?Yes, but it has to be proven that the Sherrifs Office can handle the additional inmate population in a safe manner.Do you believe the county court system needs a computer system upgrade that might cost as much as $12.6 million? If so, do you support using RTA sales tax money to fund it, or do you have a different plan? If not, what is your alternative plan?I believe that a computer system upgrade is needed because it can help the county to be more efficient and improve customer service. RTA funds should not be used. The system should be paid for by user fees such as court fines.Do you support the call by the state's attorney and public defender for raises for their staffs? Where should that money come from?I agree that they need a raise. Unfortunatly, there is no extra money right now. This issue needs to be addressed when the economy improves.What aspects of the Fabyan/Settlers Hill campus redevelopment vision created by the task force do you support? What should happen to the old county jail property?I support the preservation of the existing woodlands. I would like to minimize the impact of the trials in the existing woodlands. The former jail should be demolished. I would like to see a market study to show what is needed in the area. I would support a project that is both needed and that would be successful.
