Pitching matchups: The White Sox’ Gavin Floyd (9-10) vs. Luke Hochevar (8-13) Tuesday; Chris Sale (17-6) vs. Luis Mendoza (7-9) Wednesday; TBA vs. Bruce Chen (10-12) Thursday. All games 7:10 p.m.

At a glance: After beating the Tigers in Monday’s makeup game at U.S. Cellular Field, the White Sox head to Kansas City with a 3-game lead. That’s the good news. The bad? The Sox are 5-10 vs. the Royals this season and have lost seven of the last eight. In his first start since coming off the disabled list last week, Floyd pitched 4 innings against Detroit on Wednesday and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits. In 2 starts vs. the White Sox this season, Hochevar is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA. Francisco Liriano is likely to start for the White Sox on Thursday.
