Two deputy chiefs designated

The North Aurora Police Department has reorganized its command staff, and promoted two men to deputy chief.

Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki, formerly a lieutenant, assumed his new rank in June. He heads the patrol division and community policing.

Buziecki, who has worked 16 years for the department, oversees three patrol sergeants, critical-incident preparation and public information.

“Our new structure will allow me to focus on service delivery through community policing and problem-solving at the neighborhood level,” Buziecki said in a statement.

He has a bachelor’s degree in English from Eastern Illinois University, and a master’s degree in management and organizational behavior from Benedictine University.

David Fisher, promoted from sergeant Aug. 6, supervises the administration division and is responsible for the investigations, records, property/evidence and training units.

He has worked for North Aurora for 20 years, and was most recently day-shift patrol supervisor.

He has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Aurora University and a master’s degree in management from National-Louis University.

“I hope to use my experience in the different divisions of the department as a way of bringing positive change to some of those areas,” Fisher said.

Sgt. Joe DeLeo, administration sergeant overseeing records, training and property/evidence, has been reassigned as an investigations and administration sergeant. Sgt. Steve Van Loan, who has been the investigations sergeant the last seven years, will be reassigned to the patrol division. Both changes take place Oct. 7.
