It’s time to turn nation back to God

It is said that there are no atheists in foxholes. In the wake of the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001, we saw a nation on its knees invoking the blessings and mercy of a God we as a nation turned our backs on. On that eventful day, churches were filled. But as the events of that day faded, we fell back into old habits.

This is the nation whose people have violated God’s commandments by embracing an immoral and decadent lifestyle. We have embraced and made legal the abortion of innocent unborn babies for the sake and convenience of irresponsible people intent only on selfish pleasure, some who also further the culture of death by advocating euthanasia. Our corporations violate laws to embrace their goals of greed. The media and its advertisers pour their filth into our homes. Citizens join with the godless to have the name of God removed from schools and government buildings. Citizens support unprincipled people, liars and cheats for government office. But when the chips are down who do they turn to? Why the God they have mocked. The God whose commandments they do not heed.

Well, if there ever was a wake-up call to our nation to change its ways, it was the tragedies of 9/11, and the current disasters affecting our country, i.e. economy, loss of jobs, political dishonesty, war, and disasters of floods, fire, hurricanes, and tornadoes. The pursuit of material things, instantaneous gratification and money, ignoring responsibilities of family and citizenship is the path of destruction that history confirms. Hopefully, the God of all will forgive us our sins and help us to return our country to a nation whose society elevates good, brings us back to a being a nation under God,
