Wisconsin man who injured son now facing homicide charge
BALSAM LAKE, Wis. — A man imprisoned for causing severe injuries to his infant son who died four years later is now facing a homicide charge in Polk County.
Thirty-year-old Kenneth Larson, of Balsam Lake, was convicted in 2008 of injuring the 1-month-old child, who suffered severe brain damage. Larson is serving a 5-year prison sentence in Oshkosh.
After the baby’s mother took him to the hospital in September of 2007, Larson told investigators his son’s injuries happened when the child rolled off the bed. A doctor at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., testified in court that the baby would be severely disabled and could possibly die. The boy died on Nov. 11, 2011 of complications from the brain injury.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press says Larson has an initial court appearance on the homicide charge Sept. 24.
