One arrested for battery, 10 others arrested for underage drinking in Libertyville

Twelve people were arrested after a noise complaint at a Libertyville business led to the discovery of an underaged drinking party, police said.

Police responded to the Rancho Grande Restaurant in the 500 block of East Park Avenue at 1:05 a.m. Saturday because of a noise complaint. Once there, authorities said, they saw several people under the age of 21 drinking inside and outside the restaurant.

While police were investigating the complaint, officials said, an offender started to fight with one of the officers.

Francisco J. Carmona, 32, of Westmoreland Drive in Vernon Hills, was arrested and charged with battery and resisting a police officer after he intentionally bumped into an officer, then pushed a second officer before resisting efforts to be arrested, officials said.

He was released on a $1,500 bond but is due to appear in court on Sept. 18, authorities said.

Gerardo Hernandez Jr, 22, of the 300 block of Garfield Avenue in Vernon Hills, was also arrested by police on two outstanding warrants, authorities said. He was taken to Lake County jail on a failure to appear in court warrant for his arrest, before being taken to Darien on an outstanding warrant for deceptive practices.

Ten people were charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. They were processed at the Libertyville Police Department then released on $120 bond.

According to police, those arrested for underaged drinking are: Felipe Gomez Jr., 20, of the 700 block of Longfellow Lane in Mundelein; David B Sarmiento, 20, of the 10 block of S. Chicago Avenue in Mundelein; Jessica G. Flores, 19, of the 400 block of Garfield in Mundelein; Guadalupe Rodriguez, 19, of the 500 block of Allanson in Mundelein; Joanna Toledo, 18, of the 300 block of Deer Run in Hainesville; Mitzy Diaz, 18, of the 200 block of Lakeside in Vernon Hills; Lucero J. Martin, 18, of the 0 to 100 block of Shaddle Drive in Mundelein; Darlene Velazquez, 18, of the 300 block of Mallard Court in Vernon Hills; a 17-year-old male from Mundelein; one 17-year-old female from Mundelein.
