Motorcyclist injured in Arlington Heights crash

By Paul Biasco

A motorcyclist was injured when he struck the side of a vehicle that turned in front of him on Arlington Heights Road Wednesday night, according to police.

The driver of the motorcycle was headed south on Arlington Heights Road when a Jeep Liberty in the northbound lanes turned left onto Hawthorne Street, police said.

The motorcyclist struck the side of the jeep, said Arlington Heights police Sgt. Jerry Lehnert.

The motorcyclist was conscious at the scene after the crash, which occurred at 6:54 p.m., and suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

A second SUV was waiting in the northbound lanes attempting to turn left onto Hawthorne when the crash occurred, according to a witness.

“Our driver who was southbound did not see anybody in the curb lane and made a left turn in front of the motorcyclist,” Lehnert said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
