The motorcyclist struck the side of the jeep, said Arlington Heights police Sgt. Jerry Lehnert.

The motorcyclist was conscious at the scene after the crash, which occurred at 6:54 p.m., and suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

A second SUV was waiting in the northbound lanes attempting to turn left onto Hawthorne when the crash occurred, according to a witness.

"Our driver who was southbound did not see anybody in the curb lane and made a left turn in front of the motorcyclist," Lehnert said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
