"I want to continue efforts to increase planned growth in North Aurora. The village is in very good financial position and the addition of several new businesses the past four years has added to our growth, commercial and retail," he said in a prepared statement.

Berman, 78, has lived in North Aurora for 50 years. He is the grandfather of seven.

Berman, who is retired, had a 36-year business career in data processing sales and in management positions with IBM, Xerox and First Alert.

He was also a village trustee for 14 years, and served on the economic development committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Planning Commission and the Police Commission. He served 10 years on the board of the Fox Valley Park District, and is the president of the Aurora Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
