North Aurora president seeks re-election

North Aurora President Dale Berman announced Monday that he is seeking a third term.

Berman said he plans to collect signatures on a petition Sept. 25 and file it Dec. 17.

The election is April 9, 2013.

“I want to continue efforts to increase planned growth in North Aurora. The village is in very good financial position and the addition of several new businesses the past four years has added to our growth, commercial and retail,” he said in a prepared statement.

Berman also cited the building of a new police station, and renovation of the village hall, as major accomplishments during his tenure.

Berman, 78, has lived in North Aurora for 50 years. He is the grandfather of seven.

Berman, who is retired, had a 36-year business career in data processing sales and in management positions with IBM, Xerox and First Alert.

Berman was village president from 1985 to 1989. He was also a village trustee for 14 years, and served on the economic development committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Planning Commission and the Police Commission. He served 10 years on the board of the Fox Valley Park District, and is the president of the Aurora Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
