Milwaukee ceremony to honor Sept. 11 victims

MILWAUKEE — The Wisconsin governor and Milwaukee-area officials are honoring the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a special ceremony.

Wreaths will be placed in the reflecting pool at the War Memorial Center in downtown Milwaukee Tuesday. Afterward the public can ring the bell of the USS Milwaukee in memory of the victims.

The speakers at the event include Gov. Scott Walker, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn and a representative from the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin.

In a statement, Abele says while most have returned to their daily routines, the first responders and victims killed never can be forgotten.
