Ballistics expert testifies in Vaughn murder trial

As prosecutors began wrapping up their case against an Oswego man accused of killing his family, a Will County jury heard from several witnesses, including a ballistics expert who testified the way a gun was found was not consistent with a suicide scene.

Matthew Noedel testified Monday he examined the SUV belonging to Christopher Vaughn during a shooting scene reconstruction, concluding a suicide did not take place.

Vaughn claims he was the first victim of the June 2007 shooting in which he alleges his wife, Kimberly, shot to death their three children in the SUV and then killed herself. Vaughn’s attorneys say she committed the crimes because she was distraught over marriage troubles.

Prosecutors say Vaughn killed his wife and three children so he could move to Canada.
