Pitching matchups: The Sox' Jose Quintana (5-4) vs. Rick Porcello (9-11) today; Jake Peavy (10-10) vs. Doug Fister (8-8) Tuesday; Francisco Liriano (5-11) vs. Max Scherzer (15-6) Wednesday; Chris Sale (16-6) vs. Justin Verlander (13-8) Thursday. All games start at 7:10 p.m.

At a glance: This is the series that could ultimately decide the AL Central champion. The White Sox are in much better shape with a 2-game lead while the Tigers lost three straight to the Angels over the weekend and have dropped five of six. Detroit has won seven straight over the Sox and leads the season series 10-4. Quintana is 0-2 with a 12.66 ERA in his last 3 starts.
