Batavia woman seeks District 10 seat

Maggie Soliz of Batavia is a write-in candidate for Kane County Board District 10 in the November election.

Soliz is running as an Independent, according to the county clerk’s office. She had petitioned in June to be on the ballot, but an objection to her petition was upheld.

Soliz is a former Batavia library board member.

Her opponent is Republican Susan Stark, who defeated incumbent Tom Van Cleave in the April primary.

Otherwise, nobody else filed as a write-in for county board or county offices. Declarations of Intent to be a write-in were due Thursday.

According to the clerk’s office, Chris Michel of Romeoville is a write-in for Congressional District 11.

Michael W. Hawkins of Bridgeview, Cecil James Roth of Geneseo and Joann Brewogel of Chicago filed as write-ins for the U.S. presidency. So did 13 candidates from around the nation; only two of them listed running mates. Most listed no party affiliation, but there are candidates from the Conservative-Republican Party, the Justice Party, and two members of the Freedom Socialist 2012 Campaign.

Two filed just for the vice presidency.
