About this Article

On some of the biggest days of President Barack Obama's political life, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin has spoken first. The Illinois Democrat introduced Obama at the 2004 and 2008 Democratic National Conventions. Durbin is scheduled to speak at the Democratic convention today, before Obama accepts his nomination for re-election. "He's had pretty good luck when I'm on the program right before him," Durbin said from Charlotte.
