Board plays politics with fire department
Here we go again! Another disappointing and unnecessary decision by you (Mayor Craig Johnson) and your board. It was a bitter pill to swallow when you hired Mr. Balling, a pseudo fire chief, not even a firefighter, at great expense to the taxpayers, to “act” as fire chief while you searched for a chief — a whole year to look for the new chief.
All of this time, right under your upturned noses, was a real firefighter who has devoted some 30 years to protecting this “best hometown community” and I suspect showing Mr. Balling how the Elk Grove Fire Department was handled — what a colossal slap in the face for Deputy Fire Chief Scott Miller, who obviously is well qualified!
I am so unproud to be a part of this “best hometown community.”
