Reserve sheriff’s deputies wanted in Lake County

Lake County Sheriff's police are seeking applicants to join the reserve deputies unit. The unit is made up of volunteers who assist sworn personnel on an emergency basis. Reserves may be called upon for a variety of reasons, such as directing traffic, searching for a missing person, or supplementing security for the Lake County Fair. They are uniformed civilians who are specially trained by the sheriff's police. Reserves must have flexible schedules and be able to respond immediately to a request for service. Applicants must be 21 or older, a Lake County resident without a felony conviction and have a valid Illinois driver's license. They must pass an extensive background check. Applications may be downloaded at reservedeputy.com or contact Lt. John Crilly for information at (847) 377-7023. By U.S. mail, applications must be sent to Crilly at 1301 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville 60048. Applications are due by Oct. 1.
