Property tax payment due

The second installment of Lake County property taxes is due Thursday, Sept. 6. A second bill will not be mailed to homeowners. Under state statute, any payment received after the due date must include a 1.5 percent penalty. Payment can be made by: mail to 18 N. County St., Waukegan; online by credit card or e-check at www.lakecountyil.gov/treasurer (a processing fee will be charged by the processing company); in person at most Lake County banks (bring the original bill or a copy); to a drop box (pay by check and include the tax bill stub in a sealed envelope). Drop box locations are at 18 N. County St., Waukegan, and the Libertyville campus off Winchester Road. Look for the Collectors Drop Box sign. The treasurer’s office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 6.
