Last time:The visiting Sky beat the Sun, 82-70, Sunday.

Skinny:Ding dong, the wicked streak is dead. Sunday in Connecticut, the Sky experienced something it hadn't since July 1 -- win. The Sky ended a 9-game losing streak that seemed even longer since a stretch of losses on the front side of its July 1 win against Atlanta gave the Sky losses in 13 of 14 games dating back to June 16. Amazingly, the Sky ended the losing by defeating the best team in the Eastern Conference, the Sun. Even more amazing is that the Sky was short-handed, playing without two starters, Olympian Sylvia Fowles and forward Tamera Young. Both were out for personal reasons. But the Sky got balanced scoring as five players (Epiphanny Prince, Carolyn Swords, Swin Cash, Shay Murphy and Sonja Petrovic) finished in double figures. Prince had a team-high 15 points while Swords, starting in place of Fowles at center, scored a career-high 14 points.

On the Sun: Connecticut features one of the best big players in the game in Tina Charles but wasn't at full strength in the post on Sunday. Olympic forward Asjha Jones sat out her fifth straight game because of a strained left Achilles tendon.

The Sky is now in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, sitting one-half game ahead of the New York Liberty for the final playoff spot.

Next: Sky at Indiana Fever, 6 p.m. Saturday
