Burlington stings Cougars with 7-6 win

A constant light rain showered the Kane County Cougars and Burlington Bees on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, but it was Burlington who dried off with a 7-6 victory.

Burlington (66-65, 34-28) grabbed the lead with 3 runs in the top of the second against starter Jason Mitchell.

Chris Lamb cruised through the first four innings for the Bees but sputtered in the fifth as the Cougars (65-67, 31-31) picked up a pair of runs. In the sixth, the Cougars cashed in on 4 walks to take the lead for the first time.

Burlington’s winning rally came in the seventh on 4 walks and a pair of singles.
