Cougars pound out 19 hits in win
After getting shut out Thursday night for the 11th time this season, the Kane County Cougars’ bats came alive Friday night against Quad Cities with a come-from-behind 11-10 road victory at Modern Woodmen Park.
The Cougars (30-30) erupted for 19 hits on the night and the River Bandits (29-31) pounded out 10 hits as well but contribued 6 errors in the loss.
Although the Cougars led 6-0 through four innings, they trailed 10-7 entering the ninth as Quad Cities scored 3 runs in the seventh and added 3 more in the eighth to take the lead.
Second baseman Justin Tapp went 3-for-4 and accounted for 3 RBI and 4 runs for the Cougars. On the night, the Cougars were 9-for-18 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12. Andrew Triggs picked up his third save with a scoreless ninth for Kane County.
