IU extends summer tuition cut; saved students $11M
BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University says it plans to extend its summer tuition discount for undergraduates next year after a pilot program saved them $11.8 million
IU on Thursday credited the program with growing summer enrollment across the state by 3 percent to more than 29,000 students. It says enrollment grew by nearly 5 percent in Indianapolis, with more than 10,000 students, by nearly 15 percent in Richmond and more than 11 percent in Kokomo. Summer enrollment grew by 1 percent on the main campus in Bloomington.
Under the discount, Indiana resident students receive a 25 percent reduction from published tuition rates. Out-of-state students receive an equivalent dollar reduction in tuition rates.
IU says it plans to change course offerings to attract more students next summer.
