October trial scheduled for JetBlue passenger

DENVER — A Chicago man accused of groping a pregnant woman and not following crew instructions on a JetBlue flight is scheduled to go to trial Oct. 15.

On Friday, a federal judge in Denver set a two-day trial date for 32-year-old Marcus Covington and ordered that he be held without bond.

A grand jury indicted Covington on charges of interference with a flight attendant and abusive sexual contact on an aircraft. Authorities allege Covington groped a woman while waiting for the bathroom on a Los Angeles-bound flight from New York late Sunday.

Prosecutors allege that after Covington ignored a flight attendant’s request to stay seated, the crew asked an FBI agent on the plane to intervene. The plane made an emergency landing in Denver.

Covington’s attorney has declined to comment.
