Usain Bolt clocks 19.58 in 200 meters in Switzerland

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Usain Bolt clocked 19.58 seconds to win the 200 meters at the Athletissima Diamond League meeting on Thursday, after training partner Yohan Blake matched Tyson Gay as the second-fastest man in the world.

Bolt ran the fastest 200 ever on the speedy Lausanne track, yet was almost overshadowed by his younger friend and rival.

Blake timed 9.69 to win the 100 and become the joint second-fastest man in history, trailing only Bolt. Gay of the United States also has a legal best of 9.69.

Blake, the two-time Olympic silver medalist behind Bolt, had to cope with a slight headwind as he shaved .06 off his previous best.

Bolt had 1.4 meters per second wind assistance, but finished 0.26 behind his Olympic gold medal-winning time.
