Wisconsin harassment investigated, suspect found dead

MANITOWOC, Wis. — Manitowoc police called in special operations officers to investigate a harassment complaint and say they found the suspect dead in a closet at his home.

Police say officers had investigated several incidents involving the suspect since Saturday, including one in which he wanted to borrow a gun to retaliate against someone with whom he had an argument at a local bar.

While investigating the latest incident, special forces officers were among those who went to Steven Augustine’s home to arrest him Wednesday afternoon. Officers say numerous attempts were made to contact Augustine. Several streets around his apartment were closed and a flash bang device was deployed into his apartment. The 50-year-old suspect was found dead in a closet in the loft area. Police say there were no visible signs of trauma.
