Mundelein police open house:

The Mundelein Police Department is sponsoring an open house on Saturday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 221 N. Lake St. Displays and activities will include: a women’s self-defense and weapons demonstration; police equipment displays including the Air One Helicopter, squads cars and motorcycles; a “mini” bike rodeo and bike safety presentation; and a distracted and impaired driving simulator. Building tours will include the firearms range, telecommunications center, and the prisoner holding facility. Residents can also sign up for safety programs such as Yellow DOT, Crime Reports, and medical information notification. Police Explorers, police chaplains, Citizen Alumni Association volunteers, and police department personnel will be on hand to answer questions and act as tour guides.
