Thank, don’t blame, business and industry

I just finished reading Frank Sears letter in Fence Post (July 17) in which he cites a litany of what in his mind is wrong with Republicans. He begins by saying they can’t stop crying, and he calls them sore losers. I have yet to see my Republican friends going around crying about politics. Maybe he was thinking about the Democrats and their excuse-maker in chief, Barack Obama, who blame all their problems on Congress, Wall Street, business and industry (the mother’s milk of a successful economy), and Fox News. They refuse to take the blame for anything bad resulting from their actions. Blame it on the other guy!

He refers to the Supreme Court as being privately owned by the Republicans. Huh? He has obvious contempt for industry, “industries like utilities, pharmaceuticals, banks, oils companies and so on? You know, the job creators (really? Where are the jobs?)” Is he kidding? When I filled prescriptions for a living I bought drugs from pharmaceutical companies who employed thousand of people for research and manufacturing and delivering their products to pharmacies who employ hundreds of thousands nationwide. Utility companies supply us with gas and electricity without employing people? The banks I’ve always dealt with were teeming with workers. How does Mr. Sears think he is able to put gas in his car? Thank the oil industry and all the people they give jobs to.

Instead of showing disdain to business and industry Mr. Sears should be grateful to them for the contributions they make to our capitalistic country and refrain from thinking like a socialist. Does he expect to be taken seriously?
