Searchers looking for boater off Wind Point

WIND POINT, Wis. — A search and rescue crew is looking for a missing boater in Lake Michigan off Racine County’s Wind Point.

Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Klatt says a man told a police officer about 3 a.m. Monday that he had fallen out of a boat and had been swimming for an hour before reaching shore. The man told the officer he was knocked out of the boat by strong waves and that another man was still in the boat.

Klatt says the boat was recovered, but it was empty. WTMJ-TV says the U.S. Coast Guard is assisting in the search on the water and in the air.
