Naperville teen charged in Friday burglaries

One of two teens arrested Friday on suspicion of residential burglary has been charged as an adult.

Naperville police Sgt. Gregg Bell said Luis Espinosa, 17, of the 3000 block of Bar Harbor Court, has been charged with residential burglary and attempted residential burglary and remains in Will County jail on $200,000 bond.

Bell said a homeowner on the 3500 block of Scottsdale Circle was home about 12:30 p.m. Friday when Espinosa and a 16-year-old male tried to break into his home.

“The homeowner surprised them and chased them before catching and briefly detaining them,” Bell said. “But they got away from him and he called 911.”

Aurora police found the 16-year-old less than a half-hour later. Espinosa was caught at 1:50 p.m. near Bar Harbor Court, also by Aurora police officers.

Bell said the two suspects also were believed to have been involved in an earlier Scottsdale Circle burglary during which they targeted electronics.
