Jury selection begins in 2007 family killings

Jury selection has started in Will County for the trial of an Oswego man charged with shooting to death his wife and three children five years ago.

Attorneys are expected to select a jury this week, and prosecutors are likely to begin calling witnesses in Christopher Vaughn’s trial next week.

Vaughn is accused in the June 14, 2007, slayings of his wife, Kimberly, and their three children: 12-year-old Abigayle, 11-year-old Cassandra and 8-year-old Blake.

Authorities allege Vaughn was driving his family in their SUV when he pulled onto a frontage road and shot them near Channahon.

Vaughn has pleaded not guilty. He contends his wife killed the children and then killed herself.
