Chick-fil-A fray comes down to money

Your article on Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day left out two important facts. First, only in the political spin zone did the Chick-fil-A hubbub become about the First Amendment. Initially the issue was the use of profits from the company to finance right-wing and hate organizations. Only after being accused of hate mongering did the owner turn to the Baptist press for an interview.

Secondly, that Mike Huckabee would suggest “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” is no surprise as he is from Arkansas and has in the past received sizable political contributions from that state’s chicken producers as well as from Dan Cathy, owner of Chik-fil-A. It is all about money — not free speech — but in American politics money talks.
