Boomers blanked again 5-0

By

Unable to dig themselves out of an early hole, the Schaumburg Boomers fell to the Joliet Slammers 5-0 on Saturday night at Boomers Stadium.

The Boomers (41-30) were shut out for the second straight night.

Cameron Roth suffered the loss despite allowing just 1 earned run over his 7 innings. Roth fell to 8-5 as the Schaumburg southpaw struck out seven and allowed 5 hits with 4 walks.

The former Baltimore Orioles farmhand has allowed just 1 earned run in his last 24 innings.

Frank Pfister collected 2 of the 6 Boomers hits with his 18th and 19th doubles of the season.

The Boomers did manage to draw 5 walks, with Karexon Sanchez reaching twice in the game on a single and a walk.

Jacob Sanchez improved to 4-1, scattering 5 hits over 6 innings and lowering his ERA to 1.91.

A 2-run homer from Kyle Maunus in the eighth inning spoiled the return of Jose Rodriguez to the Boomers’ bullpen after a stint on injured reserve (ankle). Kirk Clark pitched a scoreless ninth in his Boomers debut.
