Antioch chicken BBQ and auction fundraiser

The Antioch Lion’s Club will hold its 53rd Annual Chicken BBQ in conjunction with the Antioch Rescue Squad’s Auction on Sunday at Williams Park, 807 Holbek Dr.

Auction items will be available for viewing starting at 11 a.m., when chicken will also start being served. Tickets for the chicken dinner can be purchased in advance at Piggly Wiggly, 460 Orchard St., for $9 or the day of the event for $12. Chicken can also be picked up to-go at the Antioch Metra Station, 305 Depot Street.

Some of the auction items include bicycles, grills and antiques. The auction will begin at 1 p.m.

“The rescue squad is a private, not-for-profit corporation, so we have to raise our own money, which in this economy is kind of a challenge,” said Steve Smouse, president and paramedic. The Antioch Women’s Club will also be holding a bake sale.
