Take Action Fitness is a dream come true for owner

An interview with Kim Justice, owner of Take Action Fitness.

Q: Describe your business. What do you do?

A: Take Action Fitness is a smaller, more private gym focused on service and member results. Our mission is to change lives and change the way fitness is done. Take Action Fitness is the alternative to large, impersonal gyms. We focus on relationships with our members, customer service that exceeds expectations, and individualized fitness program designed to help clients get the most out of their membership.

Q: What made you start your business?

A: Two reasons actually. This has been my dream since I was sixteen years old. I have been involved in fitness all my life through sports and wanted to continue my education in this area. In addition, having been involved in the fitness business for several years, I became increasingly frustrated at the poor standards in our industry. I was sick and tired of clubs where sales numbers were more important than member results, and good training programs and qualified instruction were almost impossible to find.

Q: What has been the most difficult obstacle in running or starting a small business?

A: Wearing all the hats in the company can be challenging, that is why as soon as possible it is important to start building a team of staff members that can contribute to the overall mission.

Q: What do you enjoy most about operating your business?

A: Knowing that I help people be happier is what keeps me going.

Q: Is this what you pictured yourself doing when you were young?

A: Like I said, this has been a dream of mine since I was sixteen. I love leading others toward success. Working with people through fitness combines two areas that are very rewarding for me.

Q: What keeps you up at night?

A: My dog. Kidding. Thinking of the next day’s to-do list can keep me up.

Q: If you could give one tip to a rookie business owner, what would it be?

A: The number one expense that you should never leave out of your budget is your education. Continuing education is of highest importance in being a successful business owner. There is a reason why millionaires have personal libraries.
