District 50 band director

By

A Woodland Middle School band director will make a guest appearance as a conductor during the Palatine Concert Band’s final outdoor concert next month. Elise Matusek, director of the school’s Symphonic Band 1 and the Wildcat Marching Band, will be guest conducting the “Fate of the Gods” by Steven Reineke. The concert is Aug. 1 at 8 p.m. at the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 262 E. Palatine Road, Palatine. The 80-member adult band will perform a full concert program. Matusek has played bassoon in the Palatine Band for 11 years. Her guest conducting appearance will be the third time in three years she has stood on the podium for this band. “What an honor, and what an opportunity to conduct a band of my peers,” Matusek said. More information on the concert program and directions to the performance venue can be found at: http://palatineconcertband.org/fred-p-hall-amphitheater/
