Need better policy to invest in U.S.
Need better policy to invest in U.S.
The political discussion and consternation revolving around investing abroad and outsourcing has been interesting. Most see this as only the practice of the wealthy.
However, I’m sure that most balanced portfolio 401k plans contain investors who are not wealthy and which contain emerging market or international funds investments. Are these people supporting job outsourcing? Even domestic large cap equity funds contained within 401k’s have most companies with foreign investments. Is GM outsourcing when they invest in China? All of their Chinese vehicles are actually sold in China or in Asia.
In this era of globalization much of discussion surrounding foreign investment is somewhat dated. We need a domestic policy which makes investing in the U.S. the best economic decision. If the economics of U.S. investment do not make sense for doing business in this country, then foreign and domestic capital will move elsewhere as will the associated jobs.
