Aurora man jailed on child porn charges

An Aurora man charged with possession of child pornography was jailed Thursday on $100,000 bail.

Leon R. Jeffery, 56, of the 1000 block of Pleasant Run Lane, appeared in DuPage County bond court on four counts of aggravated child pornography possession.

Jeffery, who was identified in court as a licensed real estate agent, is accused of possessing on his computer numerous pornographic videos involving girls younger than 13, according to court records. An arrest warrant was issued July 20.

Defense attorney J. Patrick Nelson told Judge Elizabeth Sexton on Thursday that Jeffery has no prior criminal history, is self-employed and has strong ties to the community.

“He has been in counseling,” Nelson said.

Sexton ordered Jeffery to stay away from minors and to avoid using a computer should he post the necessary $10,000 to be released from jail. Jeffery also must surrender his passport.

He is scheduled to appear next month before Judge George Bakalis.
