Arlington Hts. Trustee Mike Sidor talks about term limits

Curious about where Arlington Heights Trustee Mike Sidor stands on the issue of term limits?

A supporter of Sidor, who is a first-term member of the village board, is circulating petitions to hold a referendum calling for trustee term limits on the village's spring ballot.

Organizers of the campaign say they already have about 2,000 signatures to put the question on the April 9 ballot. They need 2,447, or 8 percent of the 30,593 residents who voted in the 2010 governor's race.

The proposal would limit trustees and the village president to two 4-year terms, and a total of eight years in their lifetime.

Sidor says some confusion about his own position on the question arises from statements he made during his campaign to the effect that, if elected, he would probably only serve two terms.

"That's just for me, personally," he said this week, adding he appreciates hearing from trustees with different levels of experience when issues arise.

The newest member of the board also said he is having a lot of fun in the job, meets a lot of great people and enjoys working hard to get things done.
