Lawsuit vs ex-rep in Conn. settled

HARTFORD, Conn. — The family of a Connecticut woman found frozen to death in 2009 has settled a lawsuit against a former state lawmaker and a Cromwell tavern accused of negligence and recklessness.

A court document obtained by The Associated Press shows relatives of Carol Jean Sinisgalli on Wednesday withdrew the lawsuit against former Rep. James O’Rourke and O’Leary’s Digger McDuff’s Tavern. Terms of the resolution were not disclosed.

Lawyers in the case did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

The lawsuit said Sinisgalli wasn’t wearing a coat or shoes when she was kicked out of the bar in 14-degree weather. It also said O’Rourke didn’t check on Sinisgalli after she abruptly exited his car as he gave her a ride home. She was later found dead in several inches of snow.
