White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins at U.S. Cellular Field
TV: Comcast SportsNet Plus Monday; Channel 26 Tuesday; Comcast SportsNet Wednesday
Radio: WSCR 670-AM
Pitching matchups: The White Sox’ Gavin Floyd (7-8) vs. Francisco Liriano (3-9) Monday at 7:10 p.m.; Jose Quintana (4-1) vs. Cole De Vries (2-2) Tuesday at 7:10 p.m.; Jake Peavy (7-7) vs. Nick Blackburn (4-5) Wednesday at 1:10 p.m.
At a glance: The White Sox are happy to be returning home, even if it’s just for three games. They are coming off a 10-game road trip, have dropped five straight and lost their AL Central lead to the Tigers. Floyd (elbow tendinitis) comes off the disabled list and makes his first start since July 7, when he beat the Blue Jays. The right-hander is 3-1 with a 1.37 ERA in his last 4 starts. To clear a roster spot, the White Sox optioned left-handed reliever Donnie Veal back to Class AAA Charlotte after Sunday’s loss at Detroit. Floyd has a tough matchup in Liriano, who has lost his last 2 starts despite allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits in 14 innings while striking out 25. The Sox went 5-1 on their last homestand. The White Sox are 4-2 vs. the Twins this season.
Next: Texas Rangers, Friday-Sunday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington
