Nicki Skogfeldt, left, and Laurel Bault are heading up the local It's My Vote: I Will Be Heard campaign leading up to the November elections. They are targeting women ages 18 to 30 with help from an American Association of University Women grant and are looking for volunteers across Kane, DuPage and suburban Cook counties to help with outreach.

About this Article

Laurel Bault's father became a U.S. Citizen when she was 10 years old and she grew up with a very clear understanding of the importance of voting. Unlike some of her friend's parents, Bault's father - a Canadian immigrant - treated voting as a right and a duty, instilling in her a fascination with civic engagement. Her latest project is coordinating an AAUW-sponsored get out the vote campaign called It's My Vote: I Will be Heard targeting millennial women ages 18 to 30.
