Children’s program at Great Lakes

Great Lakes Naval Station’s museum hosts a lookout duty and ship identification program for children at 1 p.m. Saturday. The event is free and open to the general public. Children can expect to learn about the importance of lookout duty on ships. In addition, they will learn how sailors were taught to recognize friendly and enemy vessels. Visitors can reach the museum by driving to the main gate off Sheridan Road, just north of Route 137, at the naval base. Call (847) 688-3154 for more information.
