Paramount adds Newton-John, Poi Dog to lineup
Australian pop star Olivia Newton-John and the Hawaiian fusion band Poi Dog Pondering are just two of the half-dozen acts recently added to the Paramount Theatre's 2012-13 season in Aurora.
Newton-John, perhaps best known for her turn in the movie musical version of “Grease,” returns to Aurora for a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.
Paramount Theatre artistic director Jim Corti oversees a special “Happy Holidays ... Broadway Style” concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Under the Streetlamp, the ever-popular quartet of singers drawn from former cast members of “Jersey Boys” recently seen on PBS, performs in a special New Year's Eve concert complete with a champagne toast and a countdown at two shows at 6 and 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31.
Poi Dog Pondering brings some Hawaiian heat to a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.
The Paramount Theatre also has scheduled two shows that will play at its intimate Copley Theatre across the street from its main venue at 8 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora.
The “Chicago Comedy Tour” featuring WGN-TV's Ana Belaval, Pat Tomasulo and Mike Toomey is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, while an extended run of “The Second City Dysfunctional Holiday Revue” plays at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 5 p.m. Sunday from Dec. 13 to 23.
