Don’t reserve parade spots before 7 p.m.

The Village of Arlington Heights asks Fourth of July Parade goers to refrain from “reserving” space along the parade route until 7 p.m. July 3, the night before the parade. The past practice of reserving a space along the parade route days ahead of time — with blankets, tarps, chairs, etc. to ensure a good viewing spot — can damage grass, impede pedestrians and bother homeowners who may need to water, mow, or place refuse at the curb. The parade starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 4; from Dunton Avenue and Oakton Street it goes south on Dunton to Miner Street and east on Miner to Recreation Park for the Frontier Days Festival.
