Carelessly discarded smoking materials ignited a deck Wednesday morning in Geneva, according to fire department officials.

The fire happened at 9:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Westhaven Circle. It was put out in 10 minutes.

The wood deck was attached to a house, but the fire did not spread to the house, Deputy Chief Mark Einwick said.

A similar fire happened in Batavia June 15.
