If you always wanted to catch Carpentersville Village President Ed Ritter at the big top, you have a chance to do so this weekend.
Ritter will be making a grand entrance into the Carson and Barnes Family Circus on an elephant.
“I just climb right on there and get off,” Ritter said. “I don’t think I’ll be doing any stunts or anything.”
The Rotary Club of Carpentersville-Morning is putting on the circus, which runs Friday through Sunday, June 22-24, at the north end of the Meadowdale Shopping Center on Route 25. Ritter is a longtime member of the club.
There are seven shows total and Ritter will make his ringmaster debut at the one scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23.
Showtimes are Friday, June 22, at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 23, at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, June 24, at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Every show lasts for two hours and will happen rain or shine.
Tickets are $8 for children ages 11 and younger, $16 for ages 12 and older and free for ages 2 and younger.

Foundation donation: The Huntley Library Friends Foundation recently donated $12,200 to the library, a figure that will help sponsor the library’s programs for kids, teens and adults for the coming year.
Every time you buy something from Corner Books, shop at a library book sale, recycle paper in the bins in the library’s parking lot, buy a raffle ticket at the library for its fundraisers throughout the year, or attend a fundraiser, you’re helping the Friends Foundation raise money to support the library.
